BDAV Awards 2016

James Hardie had the pleasure of presenting a new award category at 21st BDAV awards night- Excellence in Use of Lightweight Materials. Find out who took home the top prize.

The Building Designers Association of Victoria presented its 21st annual Building Design Awards at the National Gallery of Victoria on Saturday evening, 30 July 2016. The awards profile excellence in building design and promote the importance of the building design profession to both the building industry and the wider community. 

BDAV members play an important role in providing the public with designs that fulfil many and varied criteria, with a strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. The awards strive to profile design excellence; therefore, only the best and most innovative projects are submitted by Victoria’s leading building designers. 

James Hardie Australia has been supporting the BDAV since 2001, and are currently the BDAV’s Diamond Sponsor. At the awards night, they presented the award to the winner of a new category introduced by the BDAV this year – Excellence in Use of Lightweight Materials, won by Melbourne Design Studios Pty Ltd for Waltham Jewel

In addition, James Hardie collaborated with CasConsrtuct and Archsign on their winning entry "Duplay" for the Most Innovative Small Works Project category. The cubby house was built for an auction to raise money for Kids Under Cover charity


DUPLAY by James Hardie, CasConstruct and Archsign is an innovative cubby house that won the Small Works Project category.
